1) Why and when did you start your business?
I was in an accident in 2013 and needed to supplement my income. I wasn’t crafty in high school, but I became crafty with the help of a vinyl cutting machine. I did vinyl for about 4 years and decided to bring something more into my business, so I took a leap into sublimation. I’m so thankful that I did as it’s been absolutely amazing since.

My 9-5 is a Administrative Assistant, I work for Fraser Health at the Chilliwack General Hospital at an addictions clinic. I absolutely love what I do. I’m so devoted to my clients and making sure they get what they need. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t bring my work home with me. However, I know if I can help brighten their day that that means the absolute world to them.
3) Some interesting facts about your product?
I’d have to say some are classy and cute others are vulgar and sassy. I love it. It’s like a clash of my personality!
Christmas was the time I usually start featuring small businesses that had gifted me some lovely items!

Anita Mui grew up with her older sister, as child singers. Singing was not an ideal career goal for a young girl in the 1970’s Hong Kong. However, she loved to sing and was extremely inspired by her seniors on the stage. As a child, she memorized Japanese songs as she was impressed by how those songs helped famous singers to become more successful. The more languages one knew, the popular one could become….
One day, Hong Kong’s most famous television station was looking for potential singers to compete on their first singing contest. Anita and her sister was invited to join! Unfortunately, her sister didn’t make it to the preliminaries. Ultimately. Anita won the competition!
While her career was flying high, her personal life was not that smooth. Relationships were frowned upon and it was heart breaking. So, she turned her energy towards her career. She took risks and broke barriers through the 1980s and 1990s in the music industry. Anita was also very successful in the movie and television series.
Her beautiful friendship with Leslie Cheung was what kept her grounded. By encouraging each other through their ups and downs, they grew closer each day.
As time went by, Anita was learning about how cruel reality could be to an artist. Then SARS hit Hong Kong in 2003…..
Conclusion
Both Anita Mui and Leslie Cheung were my favourite artists as a child. All their songs and movies encouraged me to learn my mother tongue well. Their passing had such an impact on me. As an adult, watching this movie brought back memories and a deeper understanding of what artists gave up for their love of the business.
We opened one and a half years ago during the pandemic time. People sold these kinds of skewers hotpot at the streets around 1970 to late 1980s in Sichuan, ChengDu, China. We hoped to bring back the memories for some customers and share an unique hotpot experience for local customers. We designed different kinds of pictures and ambiance, reminding guests of the past, sitting in the streets to eat. We believed that our authentic taste and aroma could transport people to China without physically travelling during this difficult time.
2. What was your background?
We founded in ChengDu Sichuan China the city of Mala Spicy Hotpot. There were over 800 branches in China so far.
3. Interesting facts about your product?
Sesame oil dish was not spicy and I liked it the most.
We are selling $0.50 per skewers. Perfect for small groups of people, as they can enjoy more varieties in their meals. Moreover, because the food is on the skewers, it is easier to pick up. People can monitor their food better because of the skewers. Ultimately, the food won’t be stolen by your friends!
Comments
Traditional spicy powder had half of peanut powder and half of spicy pepper powder. It was very spicy for me. So, I only used the peanut powder side to dip my food.
I had the Brown Sugar Rice Cake for dessert. It reminds me of a Japanese style Mochi. Delicious!
I was invited to try out this new LED skin therapy treatment. The Celluma light therapy system was promoted as a system that used “protective and hygienic barriers”—Celluma . This was important for spa practitioners during the pandemic.
The treatment only took about half an hour. The client would given a facial wipe to cleanse her face herself. After lying down on the sanitized bed, the client’s eyes would be covered by a pair of goggles. The LED lights weren’t harmful to the eyes, but the goggles were used more for comfort.
Next, the spa practitioner placed the Celluma Light Therapy lamp cover the client’s head. There were three lights: blue, red and infrared. The client chose the type of light to be emphasized to deal with inflammation, bacteria or circulation.
Final Thoughts
From the camera, the lights appeared to a bit scary. However, in my observation, the lights glowed and changed slowly. It was warm and soothing. By playing sounds of some beach waves, I felt like I was relaxing on a beach! After treatment, I looked like I had a slight pinkish blush on my cheeks.
As we waited to board the ferry, I decided to walk around to the town. I ended up inside the Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Company.
These small local shops were my favourite because I got to try out the different oils and vinegars. The staff would teach you how to use these products when you tell them what you enjoyed to eat daily.
For gift giving, they had gift sets that consists of different items in smaller sizes. They also carried different brands of local products on their shelves.
Matt’s Olive Oil Skincare was made by Matt, naturally, at the store! He told me he used the leftover remnants from the olive oil pressings to make his products, especially his handmade soaps! Very cool!
