Who is Jocelyn Eloise Designs?

1) Why and when did you start your business?

I started my small craft business while I was on maternity leave with my second daughter (started thinking about it in February 2022 and actually got all my marketing materials ready/started my IG & FB in May). Being so much more isolated during this past maternity leave than I was in my first, I felt I needed a creative outlet. I also noticed that my eldest (3.5 years old) took an interest in my crafting and wanted to help. I decided that the business could be something my daughter’s could grow into helping with, so I centered the foundation around them—naming it Jocelyn Eloise Designs after each of their middle names.

2) Next, what was your background?

My background is in disability consulting, but I’ve always had an artistic side that I never did anything with career-wise.

3) Some interesting facts about your product?

While I can make just about anything requested, I prefer to make apparel. I like the idea of making something that lasts and has a longer use than something like paper products. I’m also very environmentally conscious, so I try to use products that are made from recycled materials and prefer heat transfer vinyls over adhesive (PVC) vinyls.

4) Finally, anything else you would like to share?

I offer unique, thoughtful, but also affordable personalized or custom products. I put my heart into each of my designs and pride myself on a great customer experience.

Vendor Feature: Beth And Olivia Handmade

When I saw the name of the scent, I needed to try it! Thank you, Beth And Olivia Handmade for these lovely products to try!

Who is Beth And Olivia Handmade?

When my daughters were only preschoolers back in 2008, they loved all things sparkly. They were my inspiration to make jewellery for little girls. This passion then turned into a business.
My little tots are now teenagers and I have shifted my focus to making charm jewelry for females of all ages. My necklaces are dainty and minimalistic, making them great for both casual and dress-up looks.

My youngest daughter, Beth, developed eczema at a very young age. It got worse as she grew older which prompted me to look for a natural product to relieve her skin condition. Nothing that I found helped her condition, so I decided to create something myself. The result was my Neem and Tea Tree Body Butter using natural herbs and oils that worked best for Beth. From there, I expanded my collection to include lip butters, body butters, bath bombs, soaps, bath salts and more.

In 2013, I finally decided to start my business combining both jewellery and body care products.

I graduated as a fashion designer and was in the field for 8 years. Everything I create for my company presently was all self taught.

I’m in a positive mindset whenever I make my products. This intention goes into pouring, mixing, measuring, labelling, the whole creation process. This is my way of spreading love and positivity to the world…through my products.

Who is Shining Bear Designs?

1) Why and when did you start your business?

I always wanted something in my life that meant something and gave me fulfillment. I started my business doing something totally different and it evolved into this…finding my culture and discovering how beautiful it is!!!

2) Next, what was your background?

I am an indigenous artist and entrepreneur…I have schooling in both graphic design and some business. Most however of what I currently do has been self taught.

3) Some interesting facts about your product?

My raw products are locally sourced and I design and print them all myself. Every single crew , hoodie , track pants, zip up, and onesie has been made by me.

4) Finally, anything else you would like to share?

Each has a message , I call them my wearable teachings.

I started my business during covid, at home, and decided to keep going with it as a relaxing side gig.

I was a photographer and had learned traditional Native beading as a hobby, I had more time to perfect my own style during covid.

3) Some interesting facts about your product?

I use naturally sourced and recycled materials: leather, fur, birch bark, jewels, and beads, and more.

4) Finally, anything else you would like to share?

I can be creative with this hobby. I also only create my art in a positive state. I do not create when I am dealing with troubled situations in life and am feeling negative, as I know that those feelings can pour that energy into my work.

Who is D’ Lux Bath And Body?

1) Why and when did you start your business?

I, Kim, made bath and body products for Christmas presents for years with my mom. I tried to start a soap making business back in 2015. However, my mom got sick with Alzheimer’s so my partner, Peeter and I cared for her for years until it was time for her to go into a home. Once she was cared for in the home in 2020, Peeter and I decided to make a go of it and started making a ton of products after much research!

2) What was your background?

Peeter was a ticketed iron worker but injured his back so he was looking for something else to fill the void. I am a Medical Office Assistant part-time. We’ve always had an interest in making high-end bath and body products that are accessible to everyone.

3) What is special about your products?

We use high quality ingredients but make sure we can offer affordable pricing. We try to make bath time fun and relaxing.

4) Finally, anything else you want to share?

We love making products for you to enjoy and it makes our days when we have repeat customers! We also love creating customized gifts for business or pleasure!

Who Is Vante Designs?

1) Who and why did you start your business?

I started my business in December of 2021 but officially launched in April 2022. I started this business because I love decor and charcuterie and I was spending a lot of my spare time doing that.

2) What is your background?

Along with starting Vante Designs, I am also a full time teacher in West Vancouver!

3) What is special with your products?

Our products are all thoughtfully handmade. We strive to make your moments special and ease any of the organization pieces. Our goal is to give you the space and products so you can fully enjoy and be present at your special moments.

Vendor Feature: Haute Foods

I am adding this chili oil onto almost everything that I eat! I like that it doesn’t contain additives or preservatives.

Who is Haute Foods?

1) Why and when did you start this business?

Started my business 6 years ago making it for friends and family and friends of friends. Then 2 years ago when my kids were older I started working with a co packer to redevelop the recipe to make it commercially viable. Launched 6 months ago with new recipe and branding.

I started this from a family recipe (Laos background) that was just hidden away in the back of my cupboard used for one dish only our Laos chicken noodle dish “khao piak”.

Until I met my now husband Peter who first tried the chili oil with Khao piak. He loved how it was actually spicy and of course the crispy garlic bits that’s actually the star of the chili oil. He started eating it with everything and so did I then we realized it could be eaten with almost any types of cuisines out there. So he encouraged me to share it with people. I’m the type of person who loves cooking for people and hosting dinners so I thought sure why not.

2) What is your background?

My background is Laos/Vietnamese. Prior to having kids and being a stay at home mom for 6 years I was serving at some restaurants in Vancouver. So I’ve always liked the food industry seeing people enjoy their food.

3) What is special about your product?

My product only has 3 ingredients but what makes it special is the crispy garlic chips that stays crispy! Our products all have no preservatives, additives or sodium. I like to say we’re an enhancer to food. It doesn’t take away from the food it complements it with spice and bits of garlic throughout without changing its flavours.

4) Finally, what else do you want to share?

Although my chili oils background is from Laos I see the chili oil as universal for all ethnicities which is why I love it so much! It can go well with all types of food without taking away from the original dish. Another thing is the name Haute and why I chose it. It’s actually really simple. One because it’s actually “Hot”. My OG one was the first one I made which is really spicy compared to a lot of chili oils on the market. Second reason was I perfected the recipe to look as good as it tastes. That’s why it’s “Haute”.

1) Why and when did you start your business?

I started my business in 2019 when I got engaged. I started off with making paper flower backdrops for special events and home decor. The one I did was for my engagement party. It wasn’t as appealing as the ones now. Fell in love with doing paper flowers after that.

2) What was your background?

Just last year I gave birth to a baby girl and started my second business doing shadow boxes because I don’t think I’ll be going back to work for a while as a medical office assistant 🤭. Got to make money somehow!

3) What is unique about your products?

My products are handcrafted and custom made to all my customers likings! I do free shipping to Canada and USA 🙂

Vendor Feature: Clawed Candles

1) Why and when did you start your business?

I started this business in Dec. 2021, it started off solely because I wanted to make Christmas gifts for everyone. I gave the Peewee Candles as Christmas gifts & everyone encouraged me to start selling it, so I thought I’d try it out & when I received such positive reviews on the Peewees I decided to start a business to bring more laughter to everyone’s day! I also truly enjoyed making candles & making everyone smile when they smelled a scent or saw a cute/unique candle.

2) What was your background?

I still am currently a home-based nail technician so it was a nice change to start selling products!

3) What is unique about your products?

All the candles I create are made from 100% natural soy wax so that everyone can enjoy them! And as far as I can tell, the Peewee Candle is a one of a kind in Vancouver! All scents are also combined scents created by me.

4) Anything else you want to share?

I am now focusing on expanding the candle business to incorporate solely unique shapes & scents for everyone to enjoy! I will soon be launching an anime themed candle set too 😁.
